Phase 1 - Layout and Excavation:

According to our swimming pool company, it was necessary for the client to be present for at least the first half of this construction phase. If possible, it is a good idea to remain on the site for this entire phase.

You need to examine and approve the placement and elevation of the swimming pool form. Normal excavation should be completed within eight hours. Fortunately, we were one of the normal situations. If additional work is necessary, it could increase the cost. I recommend that you read the information from your swimming pool company very carefully.

FACTS:

  • This phase can increase your cost $100-$5000 or more. Make sure your pool company and their contract is very clear and concise as to any additional costs.
  • If additional excavation is required you will be charged at a per hour cost. If they have to pull of the job site and return, these costs will also be charged to you.
  • The Ramhoe tractor can cause significant damage to your existing concrete or lawns.
  • During this phase all automatic sprinklers that surround the pool site should be off. The ground area must be dry for the crew to work on the ground safely.

Layout of the swimming pool

This is the very beginning. The tractor has cleared the area where the pool will be dug. He had to take down 3 trees and move them to the lower part of our property. Then they marked the design for our new swimming pool with marking spray paint.

Next they placed bender board to shape the pool and the tractor began to dig the depth. We had a sports pool dug, so both sides are about 3 feet down and the middle will be dug down to 6 feet. You have to be an experienced tractor driver to dig a hole for a swimming pool.
